My name is Martha Hauston, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts with more than twenty years of clinical experience. I currently work as a staff psychotherapist at UMass Memorial Healthcare. I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University, where I studied with renowned art therapist Shaun McNiff, and an MEd in Creativity and Adult Learning from UMass Amherst.
In addition to my clinical work, I maintain a studio-based expressive arts practice integrating collage, imagework, journaling, and reflective creative processes to support self-awareness and meaning-making. I design and facilitate workshops, groups, and individual sessions rooted in intuitive image engagement, creative inquiry, and trauma-informed care.
I am also a mixed-media artist whose work explores themes of memory, inheritance, and the quiet structures that shape our lives. My artwork has been exhibited in Massachusetts venues and draws on found materials, collage, and assemblage to reflect on personal and cultural narratives.
My background includes arts programming and curation at the UMass Amherst Fine Arts Center, where I directed and developed interdisciplinary exhibitions and programs, as well as curriculum design and teaching for immigrant community organizations in the Boston area. Across these settings, my work has consistently focused on the integration of creative process, reflection, and connection.
